Using the Accessibility on this site We hope that you will find our accessibility features helpful and find navigating around the site easier quicker. This site was designed in December 2003 with particular reference to making this site accessible for our users. Although the site is now live we are still continuing to research and find other options and software links to broaden the variety of accessible features, which we will make available in the future. Basically there are 3 options available, which are for people who experience Eyesight problems, who can enlarge the font size. For people experiencing difficulty with Mobility, who can access the whole site by using the tab keys/arrow keys. There is a special help-line number set up to assist with anyone with Cognitive or associated disorders and for those who are experiencing problems with reading because English may not be their first language. We are working on having parts of our site and our future publications available in a variety of different foreign languages to include and cater for people of ethnic minorities too. Easy access around the site: The navigation headings/buttons shows you which part of the site you are going to visit are above and there is a clear distinction between each because we have used a different shade for each. Each section heading has its own menu, which indicates where you can go once you are in that particular section. Wherever you are on the site if you want to go back to the Home page, there are floating buttons to the left where you should click or tab to the Home page button. The site has been designed to also cater for dexterously impaired people. The whole site can be accessed/navigated by using the tab keys to select the link and go, left, and right and up or down for those who do not wish to use the mouse. Follow this step if you wish to use this option: 1. Use any of the arrowed tab keys to highlight any title, heading menu etc, then press the return key to activate whatever link, button, heading you are on. You can also use the “up or down” arrow keys to access drop down menus and again, select what part of the menu you would like to click and activate it be pressing the return key. If you are not comfortable with the current text size, you may want to change it to your preference by using the controls in your browser. Please note that choosing to do this will affect the whole of the text on this site until you wish to change it back. To Enlarge the font size: This is a very simple step and is done by making changes to the users browser preference and this in turn allows the viewer to increase/decrease the font size. Follow this step if you wish to use this option: 1. SELECT INTERNET EXPLORER FROM THE VIEW MENU 2. THEN SELECT PREFFERENCE 3. THEN SELECT FONTS AND LANGUAGES FROM THE SIDE MENU AND ADJUST TEXT TO A PREFFERED SIZE For anyone with any cognitive or associated disorders wishing to have the site read out to them can call the following help line number and ask for assistance. Please say state which part/page of the website you wish to have read out. WEB ASSISTANCE HELPLINE NUMBER: 0870 121 0054 or 0870 121 0050 We hope that this accessibility feature has met your requirements, however should this not be the case, we positively encourage your feedback to help us improve the website. Please email your comments to the Director of Fundraising and Marketing on funds@wheelchairchildren.org.uk Thank you.
