Colin is responsible to the trustees for the overall management of the charity and the development of our work. He has extensive experience of managing organizations in the public, commercial and charity sectors.
Owen McGhee MSc BSc (Hons) MCSP SRP
Director of Children's Services
As founder of the Association of Wheelchair Children, Owen McGhee is responsible for the training of the Therapy staff and for providing advice on clinically complex cases. He provides training for professionals dealing with wheelchair-using children and courses for the Therapy Departments of Universities. Owen has overall responsibility for monitoring and evaluating the quality of the different courses carried out by AWC and for the management of other children’s services.
Roy Wild
North Team Therapy Manager
Roy is responsible for teaching mobility skills to wheelchair-using children throughout the north of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Where necessary, Roy will liase with NHS wheelchair service departments on behalf of wheelchair-using children. Roy is responsible for booking the north team’s training courses. Roy’s background includes youth work and working for the RNIB at a residential school for young people with visual impairment and additional disabilities.
Seb Francis
South Team Therapy Manager
Seb is responsible for supporting The Head of Physiotherapy during the training of wheelchair-using children, at electric and manual wheelchair training courses. Seb is also responsible for the managment of the website, and assisting the Cheif Executive in the charity's financial and administrative running. After working with Tony Barefield, our previous Road Safety Co-ordinator, Seb is now liasing with road safety officers around the country to offer road safety training to children who have attended AWC wheelchair training courses.
Amanda Beevis CertHed
Fundraising Co-Ordinator
Amanda is responsible for raising voluntary income from charitable trusts, companies and local groups in support of the charity's work with wheelchair-using children.
Sarah Wild
North Team Therapy Assistant
Sarah works as Therapy Assistant for the North Team; she is responsible for supporting the delivery of the wheelchair mobility skills training. Sarah has 15 year experience working with young people with disabilities.
